Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about OrbitFinance, security, and how your data is handled.

Security & Trust

Is it safe to connect my bank account?
Yes. OrbitFinance connects to your bank through Plaid, a third-party service used by thousands of financial apps. You authenticate directly with your bank through Plaid's secure interface. OrbitFinance never sees or stores your bank login credentials. We only receive read-only access to your account information and transactions.
Can OrbitFinance move my money or make transactions?
No. OrbitFinance has read-only access to your accounts. We cannot initiate transfers, make payments, withdraw funds, or change anything on your accounts. The app can only view balances and transaction history.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the US East (Virginia) region. All data is encrypted at rest using 256-bit AES encryption and in transit using TLS 1.2+. Your data is isolated from other users at the database level using PostgreSQL row-level security.
What is Plaid?
Plaid is a financial technology company that provides the secure connection between your bank and apps like OrbitFinance. Plaid is SOC 2 Type II certified and is used by major financial services. When you link an account, you log in to your bank through Plaid's interface, and Plaid securely transmits your account data to OrbitFinance. See the Plaid End User Privacy Policy for more details.
Does OrbitFinance sell my data?
No. We do not sell your personal or financial information to third parties. Your data is used solely to provide and improve the OrbitFinance service. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how your data is used.

Account & Data

How do I delete my account and data?
You can disconnect individual bank accounts at any time within the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, email support@orbithub.co. We will remove your data within 30 days. See our data deletion instructions for the full process.
What happens to my data if I disconnect a bank account?
When you disconnect a bank account, OrbitFinance stops syncing new data from that account. Previously synced transactions and balances remain in your account history. If you want all historical data removed, you can request full account deletion.
How many bank accounts can I connect?
During early access, there is no limit on the number of accounts you can connect. OrbitFinance supports over 10,000 financial institutions including banks, credit unions, brokerages, and investment accounts.
Is my bank supported?
OrbitFinance uses Plaid, which supports over 10,000 financial institutions in the United States, including most major banks, credit unions, and brokerages. When you add a new connection in the app, you can search for your institution by name.

Features

How do AI insights work?
When you request AI insights, OrbitFinance sends aggregated summaries of your spending patterns (categories and trends) to an AI service. The AI analyzes your data and returns personalized observations and recommendations. We do not send raw transaction details, account numbers, or personally identifiable information to the AI. Insights are cached for up to 6 hours.
What are sharing groups?
Sharing groups let you collaborate on finances with people you trust. Family groups allow shared budgets and transaction visibility across household members. Friend groups help split expenses for trips, events, or rent. Investment groups offer collaborative watchlists with sentiment voting and paper trading. You choose exactly which accounts to share, and you can leave a group or remove shared accounts at any time.
Is OrbitFinance a bank or financial advisor?
No. OrbitFinance is a personal finance management tool. We are not a bank, broker-dealer, financial planner, or registered investment adviser. We do not hold your money, issue credit, or provide personalized financial advice. AI insights are for informational purposes only and should not replace advice from a qualified financial professional.
